Photovoltaic industry recently requires the use of cost-saving feedstock because of the growing demand for renewable energy sources.An electron beam melting (EBM) system is one among the metallurgical refining process that has effectively used to improve the purity of silicon feedstock with a low-quality as the most attractive approach due to its short production cycle, little pollution,low cost and simple process.One of the most important parameters in the EBM system is the design of EB patterns such as EB shape, size and so on.The purpose of this study is to optimize EB pattern conditions for maximizing the purification performance.The single crystalline Si ingot was manufactured with the EBM-based purified Si feedstock by Czochralski (Cz) growth process.The purity of the Cz Si ingot was improved up to 99.99998% (almost 7N).Photovoltaic performance of 6" solar cell based on the metallurgically purified poly-Si was evaluated to have the efficiency of 16.1%.
