In order to strengthen interaction of plasma jet with biomass, a laboratory-scale horizontal DC plasma jet reactor was developed for biomass gasification in comparison with downer reactor, and using nitrogen as working gas, selecting Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) as a model biomass.The effects of process parameters like flow rate of working gas nitrogen and feed rate of HPMC on the gasification performance like composition of products, gas yield and heat value of gas, were investigated, meantime, the material and energy balance for the plasma gasification process were also analyzed.
