A stepwise efficient protocol for the synthesis of flavones and γ-benzopyranones was developed.This protocol afforded substituted o-alkynoylphenol acetates intermediates in one pot reaction under mild Sonogashira coupling.Flavones and γ-benzopyranones were obtained through a facile and selective 6-endo cyclization of o-alkynoylphenol acetates mediated by 18-crown-6 ether.
