A relationship between the cophasing error and image quality were researched to gain a reasonable image quality evaluation method for the segmented primary mirror system.The effects of piston error on image quality for an imaging system has been studied,both theoretical model derivation and simulation experiments are analyzed and discussed.The cophasing,testing and imaging of segmented mirror imaging system were researched and studied.The effects of piston error on image quality for an imaging system with segmented mirror were analyed,a mathematical model between the piston error and the image quality was established.On the basis of existing segmented mirror(three segments)co-phasing imaging system,a Zemax simulation model was designed.The effects of piston error on image quality for the imaging system simulated under monochromatic and continuous spectrum light sources.The phenomenon in the simulation experiment was theoretically expounded through mathematical derivation and approximation.The result shows that when piston error is less than the coherent lenth of the light source,image quality changes periodically as piston increases.
