Context: Cancer pain is hard to be controlled and usually influences life quality of the patients.Diminishing pain and improving symptoms are the important component of cancer treatment Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the analgesic effects of the combination of flurbiprofen axetil and opioids for the refractory pain in cancer patients. Methods: A total of 144 patients were included in this study.Based on the patients’ wills and following the inclusion/exclusion criteria,46 patients received flurbiprofen axetil injection only,45 patients were enrolled in the flurbiprofen axetil/MS Contin (180mg/24h) group, and the other 53 patients received the combination of flurbiprofen axetil and duragesic (12.6mg/72h).7 days later, pain relief, life quality improvement and side effects were evaluated. Results: With flurbiprofen axetil/opioids combination, the total effective rate rose to 84.6% in flurbiprofen axetil/morphine group and 89.1% in flurbiprofen axetil/fentanyl group, but 60.0% when flurbiprofen axetil single-use.The analgesic effects were increased with the combination of flurbiprofen axetil and fentanyl (X2=9.394,P=0.002) or morphine (X2=5.667,P=0.017).Furthermore,the side effects, such as abdominal pain alimentary tract bleeding which were found in using NSAIDs did not be found. Conclusion: Intravenous flurbiprofen axetil could increase the analgesic effects of duragesic or morphine sulfate sustained-release tablets, and the flurbiprofen axetil/opioids combination could also provide few side effects and accomplish painless survival in cancer patients.
