This article examines the similarities and differences between China and Japan by examining the “compliment of performance”, the appearance of frequency and the implication of the “praise performance” appearing in the interviews. In both Chinese and Japanese interviews, “Praise Performance ” appears frequently. However, speakers who are native speakers of Japanese make good use of indirect compliments, whereas speakers whose native language is Chinese prefer to directly praise each other. In addition, the interviewees and speakers were praised more frequently by Japanese than Chinese. “Praise Performance ” is not only a positive assessment of each other, but also with “Thanks ”, “Persuasion ”, “Please ”, “Avoidance ” and other implication. Native speakers of Japanese say that the living people use their implication. In contrast, Chinese speakers tend to pay more attention to the substance of praise, preferring to directly praise each other. The reason is the way of thinking of Chinese and Japanese people as well as the differences in national character.
