The subthreshold forms of Major Depression (or Depressive Episode)that do not meet current classificatory thresholds have been less studied.Subsyndromal symptomatic depression (SSD) was first introduced by Judd et al.with the following definition:two or more symptoms of depression,at least 2 weeks in duration,associated with evidence of social dysfunction,and occurring in individuals who do not meet criteria for diagnoses of minor depression (MinD),major depression (MD),or dysthymic disorder (DD).Up to present,litter research has been conducted on the biological basis of SSD.
