  Growing worldwide demand for transportation fuels, coupled with concerns over escalating oil prices and global warming,has sparked interest in production of biofuels that show the potential for reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.Future widespread use of biofuels depends on developing new process technologies to produce high quality biofuels that are compatible with the existing fuel and transportation infrastructure.
