The microstructure and texture evolution of Fe-3.2qo Si non-oriented silicon steel fabricated by twin-roll casting was investigated.Temperature and strain gradient during casting cause through-thickness inhomogeneity in microstructure and texture. The surface layer displays both recrystallization texture of {112} <110 > and {110} <112> components and solidification texture of {100} component. The center layer however shows recrystallization texture only containing strong {112} <110> and relatively weak {100} < Ovw> and {110} <112> components.Texture and microstructure evolution during casting is explained.
