Based on the research into the surface microstructure of the lotus and water strider legs, we knew that the key to maintain self-cleaning properties and on-water features is the combination of the micro-/nano-structure and lipid, and that has been used in the study of superhydrophobic drag-reducing coatings.[1] More than 110 years ago, Biilard and Bruyant recognized that beetles of the genus Stenus are propelled forward by a substance released from their anal end onto the surface of the water under external stimuli,[2] which is a magic performance of Marangoni effect in the nature.
