Recent studies on the design of artificial materials have generated great interest in their application to improve the performance of electromagnetic devices such as electrostatic actuators, waveguides, antennas, and so on.To efficiently design such artificial materials so that desirable properties are maximized, a systematic design method is required.This paper discuss a topology optimization method for the design of microstructures made from dielectric materials.
