Objectives: Recent studies have shown that neprilysin (NEP) is the rate-limiting enzyme and plays a key role in decreasing the levels of cerebral Aβdeposition in the Alzheimers disease.Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a polyphenol presents in abundance in green tea, is a potential neuroprotected agent and has been shown in prior studies.The purpose of this study was to determine whether EGCG inhibits the neurotoxicity of β-amyloid peptide by up-regulating neprilysin gene expression.
