To investigate the effects of different concentrations of astragalus on the viability of neural stem cells (NSCs) of neonatal rats,we isolated NSCs from cerebral cortex of neonatal rats,confirmed them by nestin or 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine staining,and then detected their viability using MTT.After treatment with different concentrations of astragalus (50,100,200,and 400 g/L)for different time lengths (5,12,24,and 36 hours),nestin-and 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine-positive cells were counted.Results showed that astragalus dose-dependently increased the viability of NSCs with time.
