The coupling-loss induced quench protection system (CLIQ) firstly proposed at CERN is a promising method for the protection of the high-field superconducting magnets.Test results show that the CLIQ discharges the magnet faster than conventional quench heaters only when the magnet is at high operating current.Based on the present CLIQ,we have developed an improved coupling-loss induced quench protection system (I-CLIQ) by using the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).Specifically,a Lock-in Amplifier is added to the PLC to help choose the appropriate capacitor and the best oscillation frequency.
