Aim:The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness and safety of Ballon Kyphoplasty as a new method of treatment for traumatic fracture of the thoracolumbar junction.Methods:We treated 13 patients (3 patients male and 10 female).The average age was 67.2 years (range from 58 to 83 years).The injuried vertebrae and therefore the procedures have been 16 since in 3 patients two vertebrae have been treated.In 5 cases the interested vertebra was L 1,in 5 cases T12 and 3 cases T11 and T12.Balloon Kyphoplasty has been carried out using the Kyphon system (Kyphon Inc.Sunnyvale,CA,USA).
