In this paper,a closed form type reduction method for piecewise linear interval type-2 fuzzy sets and root finding methods are applied in centroid type-reduction for piecewise linear general type-2 fuzzy sets.When the lower and upper bounds of FOUs of the general type-2 fuzzy sets are provided,the centroid computation methods in this paper is accurate and computational efficient,and is represented by a closed-form formula,which provide a way to perform theoretical analysis for the general type-2 fuzzy sets.
