植物的生长发育过程,受环境影响很大,其中光是控制植物生长发育最重要的环境因素之一。一方面,光是植物生长发育最根本的能量来源,另一方面,作为光信号调节着植物生长发育进程,包括种子萌发、幼苗去黄化、向光性及向地性、避荫性(shade-avoidance)、茎秆伸长、叶片开张、气孔开张、叶绿体运动和开花期等。可见,植物光信号转导途径控制着植物的整个生长发育进程,如果人为地导入光信号转导途径的相关关键基因,必然导致其生长发育进程的改变,特别是产量相关性状的改变,以及抗逆性的改良,可以为作物育种所利用。
