Objective To understand the status of air pollution in newly renovated public places in Shenzhen, analyze and discuss various factors affecting air quality, and provide a scientific basis for evaluating, managing and improving the air quality in public places and protecting the health of the population. Methods Totally 21 newly renovated public places such as restaurants, hotels (hostels, hotels), tea houses and bars with operating area ≥100m2 were randomly selected in Shenzhen from 2009 to 2010, and the air quality was measured by on-site instrumentation and laboratory chemistry. Results The air quality of newly renovated public places was worrying. The highest air unqualified rate was volatile organic compounds and nitrogen dioxide. The unqualified rates were 100% and 97.96% respectively, followed by ammonia with the unqualified rate being 37.25%. Different types of public places have different pollutants. Teahouse mainly contains formaldehyde, respirable particulate matter and volatile organic compounds. However, the average concentration of ammonia in the catering industry and the tourism industry is higher. The concentration of volatile organic compounds The highest concentration. Conclusion The air pollutants in public places in Shenzhen are mainly volatile organic compounds and should be given high priority.
