一个偶然的机会,使我与周作人结下了不解之缘。1986年暮春,我从来访的新加坡著名学者郑子瑜教授处得知其珍藏着周作人《知堂杂诗抄》未刊稿,我是个好事之徒,就又辑集了一份外编作为此书附录,一并给钟叔河先生。这本小书出版后,颇受海内外的注意。次年夏,我自广州返沪途中在长沙小住,钟先生当面约我进一步参与周作人集外佚文的搜集整理工作。我历来认为要使作家研究建立在坚实可靠的基础之上,就必须公开出版其所有的作品。在国外,譬如在日本,连许多二三流的作家都已印行了全集;而在我们中国,尽管现代文学群
An accidental opportunity, so I made a conclusion with Zhou Zuoren.
