To help English and Chinese learners understand and use idioms properly in cross-cultural communication,it is necessary to explore the blending of Chinese and English cultures reflected in idioms.Based on literature review,the focus is put on major factors that cause intercultural fusion.The study shows that similar origins of the idioms,tolerant attitude towards different cultures,creative modification of exotic idioms and necessary reculturalization are the four major factors that lead to the intercultural fusion reflected in English and Chinese idioms.The factors are illustrated with figures and examples to show the cross-cultural blending in the idioms.
