2008年在中国电视发展史上可谓有着特殊意义的一年。随着2007年12月31日香港率先正式开播13套免费地面数字节目(这其中包括2套高清电视频道:TVB翡翠高清台和ATV高清频道)之后,2008年元月1日,首都北京的地面数字电视频道也顺利开播。目前北京的地面数字电视频道包括:1套央视高清节目和6套标清节目。具体节目安排如下:1、北京地区33频道:央视高清综合台(CCTV-高清)。2、北京地区32频道:中央电视台一套、二套、少儿频道、音乐频道、北京电视台一套、中国教育电视台三套共六套标清节目,这六套标清会和本地的模拟地面信号同时播出。根据测试,目前央视播出的高清电视信号覆盖了北京六环内的地区。经过对北京市东面的通州区、北面的沙河、西面的石景山区及南面的大兴区的现场测试,信号覆盖良好。在北京市内大部分地区可以在室内通过普通天线接收高清信号。

In most parts of Beijing, indoor high-definition signals can be received by ordinary antennas.
