The NiAl-based Ni-31Al alloy prepared by directional solidification technique is a kind of “braided” γ ’fiber reinforced NiAl-based composite. There is a definite orientation relationship between β and γ ’phases during as-cast. After heat treatment under different cooling methods, it was found that the microstructures of the alloy changed to some extent. Most of the β phase of Ni-31Al transformed into NiAl martensite phase after air cooling or oil quenching
