According to Lin Yeh-yuan’s statistics, Japan’s sawn timber imports totaled 910.6 billion yen in 2010 (up 12.8% from the previous year), the first increase after three years. However, compared with the previous year, it still dropped by 20%, and it fell below 1,000 billion yen for the second consecutive year. Affected by the strong yen, it exceeded 10 billion U.S. dollars for the first time in two years, an increase of 20% over the previous year. In the same year, Japan’s imports reached 60.765 trillion yen (+ 18.0%), of which sawnwood imports accounted for 1.51%, down 0.09 percentage points from 1.60% last year.
