1990年3月召开的党的十三届六中全会,号召全党坚持不懈地努力加强党同人民群众的联系。《湖北农民报》作为直接同全省农村基层干部和农民群众见面的报纸,如何让“联系群众”这条红线贯穿在办报始终,一时成为我们全体编采人员思考的中心课题。农村读者有个特点,有话想对党报说,却又“茶壶装饺子——倒(道)不出”。在他们的来信、来访中,只能热情地为编辑部出题目:他那里有“好人”呀,有“清官”呀,请记者去采访呀;或者他那里有条惹不起的“地头蛇”呀,要记者帮他
