According to a study published in “Scientia Horticulturae” (November 14, 2012), researchers from the National Institute of Metrology of Brazil established the colorimetric index of ripening banana grading. With the increase of fruit exports, the standardization of fruit quality is more and more important. Some countries have put forward unified rules on the principles of grading, labeling and packaging standards in order to standardize the quality of fruit products and meet the needs of consumers. The study identified the characteristic parameters of fruit at different stages of maturation and standardized the fruit based on these parameters in the packaging process.
