丁伟岳:中国科学院院士,北京大学数学研究所所长。1968年他从北京大学数学系毕业后,赶上了“文化大革命”,不但没有机会研究数学,反而成了工人。直到1978年他才有机会重新学习,考取中国科学院数学研究所的研究生。那时他已经33岁。时隔20年后,也就是1997年,他已经成为中国科学院的院士,可谓大器晚成。
Ding Weiyue: Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University Institute of mathematics. In 1968, after graduating from the Department of Mathematics of Peking University, he caught up with the “Cultural Revolution” and not only did not have the opportunity to study mathematics but became a worker. It was not until 1978 that he had a chance to study again and take a graduate student at the Institute of Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. At that time he was 33 years old. After a lapse of 20 years, that is, in 1997, he has become an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, can be described as late bloomers.
