2010年,英国驻重庆总领馆与重庆广益中学进行了一场足球比赛。这场足球赛既是英国驻渝领馆10周年庆祝活动,也是重庆与英国友好交流的历史渊源。1891年3月1日,当鸦片战争爆发后,被辟为对外开放的商埠重庆,涌入了英国、法国、美国等商船,它们带来了西式建筑楼群,也带来了足球运动。位于重庆南山的重庆广益中学,1894年由英国伦敦基督教公谊会创办。1907年,重庆广益中学组建了足球队,一个名叫陶维义的英国人在学校担任校长兼体育老师。
In 2010, the British Consulate General in Chongqing and Chongqing Guangyi High School conducted a football match. This football match is not only the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the British Consulate in Chongqing, but also the history of the friendly exchanges between Chongqing and the United Kingdom. On March 1, 1891, when the Opium War broke out, it was turned into Chongqing, a commercial port opened to the outside world. It flooded into the merchant shipping such as Britain, France and the United States. They brought western-style buildings and brought football. Chongqing Guangyi Middle School, located in Nanshan, Chongqing, was founded in 1894 by the Christian Fellowship in London, England. In 1907, Chongqing Guangyi High School set up a football team, a British named Tao Weiyi in school as principal and physical education teacher.
