INTRODUCTIONNote-taking has always been egarded as one of the most important and central components of anycourse on study skills.Taking notes on lectures presented by professors in class is a very common practice incolleges and universities where English is the medium of instruction.Lecture note-taking forces students to listen actively so as to produce a record of information in some meaningful note form for later review ordiscussion.Studies conducted by Howe(1970)and Weiland and Kingsbury(1979),on the value of note-taking in learning lecture material,have indicated that students who took notes during a lectnre presentationdid much better on a subsequent test than did students in a no note-taking control group.However,note-taking is a verycomplex activity which is closely linked to the employment of many separate skills such as
