田纳西·威廉斯笔下早期的南方女性优雅但脆弱,中期的南方女性受北方文化的熏陶逐渐坚强,但远离南方文化的优雅,她们均令威廉斯爱恨交织,后期《蜥蜴之夜》中的汉娜汇集南北文化的优点于一身,代表了威廉斯心中的理想。戏剧中女性形象嬗变体现了威廉斯对历史文化的挖掘、提炼、丰富和发展,体现了文化的融合和历史的进步。
Tennessee Williams’s early southern women were elegant but fragile. The middle-aged southern women were gradually strengthened by the Northern culture. However, far from the elegant southern culture, they both made Williams love and hate. In the late Lizard Night, Na brings together the advantages of North and South cultures in one, representing the ideal of Williams heart. The transmutation of the female images in the drama reflects Williams’ s excavation, refinement, enrichment and development of the history and culture, which embodies the integration of culture and the progress of history.
