The research on academic English curriculum and academic writing genre has always been one of the focuses of domestic scholars. However, there are few researches on academic speaking genres such as international conference speeches, and how to cultivate EAP learners’ academic oral genius ability and practical curriculum design. Limited. Taking the practical project of simulating international academic conference as an example, taking Communities of Practice as the design model and the academic genre as the theoretical framework, the author conducts three semesters of classroom practice. By conducting a survey among the students who took the course and analyzing the results of the questionnaire, we concluded that students generally agree on the concept of CoPs, simulating meeting settings and setting the theme of the conference. Students’ gender and professional backgrounds did not differ significantly in recognition of accreditation, but student specific grades and undergraduate / master degree programs had an impact on acceptance. The author hopes that this article can provide some reference suggestions for academic English curriculum design and textbook compilation in order to help EAP learners to become an academic community as soon as possible.
