方志界对于方志是什么即方志的性质问题进行过并还在进行热烈的研讨,提出了几十种不同的说法。笔者也参与了研讨,提出了自己的意见(见《黑龙江史志》2005年第4期《我对方志性质定义的新表述》)。但是,还有一个问题,即方志的本质问题, 方志界却很少研究。笔者所见到的研究方志本质问题的专文仅有李玉成所写《方志的本质》(载《广西地方志》1997年第1期),韩章训所写《方志本体和本质论析》(载《中国地方志》1998年第5期),金达迈所写《方志本质论》(载《新方志理论与实践二十年》——中国地方志协会2004年度学术年会论文集,方志出版社,2005年版)。
