抗战八年间,国民党军队官兵负伤合计1761335人。①时人对于这些为民族解放而负伤的抗日将士充满钦慕,对他们的负伤问题给予了及时的关注,且认为不应用“残废军人”一词称谓伤兵,而应“改伤兵一词,为荣誉军人”。②国民政府军事委员会军政部亦认为“残废军人”之称谓对于军人情绪方面足致不良影响,更非崇敬抗战将士之道。
