“百年学府”武汉大学再次身陷舆论漩涡。日前,武汉大学举行119周年校庆活动并宣布120周年“校庆年”正式启动,却招致包括老校长刘道玉在内的众多武大校友的质疑,他们认为,武汉大学的前身只能追溯到1913年创建的国立武昌高等师范学校,与自强学堂并无传承关系。武汉大学究竟起源于1913年的国立武昌高等师范学校,还是师承于1893年的自强学堂,这自然有待高校历史研究者的学术钩沉和教育主管部门的权威公断,本文无从置喙,也无意陷入口诛笔伐的是非之中,只是高校回溯校史,向来是一笔糊涂账,这种现象值得玩味,也值得思考。
