在辽宁省政协八届一次大会上,件着热烈的掌声,一个精神矍铄、学者风度的人,面带谦和的微笑站起来向人们致谢,他就是全国政协委员、新当选的辽宁省政协副主席郭燕杰。 1960年,风华正茂、品学兼优的郭燕杰从哈尔滨工业大学毕业,走入东北大学校园,开始了他的教学与科研生涯。他很快以教风严谨、教法灵活而闻名校园。为使自己具奋更扎实的理论功底,他利用业余时间听完了研究生五年的全部课程,并坚持每学期都到其他专业听两门课程,同时也积极投入到科研工作中。他认为一个大学教师不从事科研工作,就不能全面地培养学生,更难以提高教学水平。从那时起,他就牢牢树立起为祖国的科研与教育事业做贡献的理想。
