A few new technologies have been combined with various computer-aided systems to promote and enhance the forging industry. Among these new technologies are hot forging and blanking induction heating. Hot die forging can improve the fracture performance of aircraft titanium alloy parts; and better control of blank induction heating can save time and energy consumption for forging. New computer software systems help reduce costs and improve the quality of forgings. For example, Cabot Corporation of Kokomo, Indiana has a database of material choices based on formability properties and various programs developed to simulate die-forging and ring rolling at the Battelle Columbus Laboratory in Ohio.
