甘蔗无性繁殖,多年后易受宿根矮化病、花叶病等病源物的反复侵染,造成产量和品质下降。宿根矮化病可使甘蔗减产10%~30%:花叶病一般使甘蔗减产10%~40%。利用茎尖离体培养技术结合热处理,可以把这两种常规方法难以防治的病害根除,生产无病、无毒的健康种苗。脱毒健康种苗种植可使甘蔗增产20%~40%,蔗糖分增加0.5%以上(绝对值),提高甘蔗单位面积产蔗量和产糖量,从而提高植蔗业和制糖企业的经济效益。脱毒健康种苗应在试验示范的基础上采取一定的措施逐步应用推广。
