美国当代学者阿普特将“世界文学”看作西方的一体化观念和世界文学翻译中的一种权力话语,认为原文本的文学语言具有“不可译性”与“非跨越性”的文化语境与符号体系,文明差异是不可译性之源。本文认为,世界文学的跨文明交往正是翻译的起源与根本特性。世界不同文明之间存在差异性与同一性,这是翻译的根本需要与可译性前提,是形成文明“融新”的条件。翻译本身即是融合不同文明的符号创新,新文本既不在文明体系与文化语境层次上与原文本完全认同,也不屈从于译本的本土性,而是一种融合了来源国的文化与本土化话语的新话语。
American contemporary scholar Apter regards “world literature” as a kind of power discourse in the concept of the integration of the West and world literature.
