农作物杂种优势的应用,在我国已有近30年的历史。而高粱杂种优势的利用却是比较早的。高粱雄性不育系3197A 在五十年代引进我国后,到六十年代先后选育出一批杂交组合:晋杂5号、原杂10号、遗杂10号等并应用于生产,对粮食增产起了积极作用。同时对高粱植物学特征的杂种优势,如茎、株高、穗长、千粒重等,国内外的学者都进行了许多的研究,报道也不少,但对高粱籽粒品质性状的杂种优势研究见报不多。作者从1983~1985年,连续3年对高粱籽粒品质性状的杂种优势进行了初步研究,为高粱品质育种提供依据。
