The United States Food and Drug Administration approved the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test in 1986 for monitoring the progression of prostate cancer;in 1994,the test was approved for the early detection of prostate cancer.1 The application of the PSA test has significantly increased the detection rate of prostate cancer.
