The title of “southeast, a flat extension” means in itself the central position of decentralization. This is not a petition or a counterattack against the center of a marginalized group, but rather a “Center - Edge ” binary opposition and offset. Discussing the political southeast and the periphery in the southeast of China has always been considered as a suitable discourse strategy, such as the Guangzhou Triennial (2008) with the theme of “Goodbye to Colonialism.” This exhibition discusses more specifically the artistic practices of Southeast Asia and South-East Europe - both post-colonial and post-Cold-War periods viewed by the Center for Power and Politics as a buffer of overgrowth but the fermentation of a large number of remaining issues, including Social and political instability.
