本文以《远大前程》、《告别了,武器》、《咆哮营子的幸运儿》为文本,追溯和分析在原型批评视角下水的意象及其象征意义。笔者认为水在某些英美文学作品中成为主人公再生的标志:主人公因思想堕落或罪孽深重,经过落水或溺死后,灵魂得到洗涤而恢复到原本的纯净,暗含此人在水中得以再生。
In this paper, the vision of prototype and its symbolic significance are traced back and analyzed from the perspective of archetypal criticism with the words “Great Future,” “Farewell, Weapons,” and “Lucky Children Growling.” The author believes that water has become a sign of protagonist regeneration in some Anglo-American literary works: the protagonist has been decontaminated or thoughtlessly singed, and after being drowned or drowned, the soul is washed and restored to its original purity, implying that the person is regenerated in the water.
