The Taricuo deep depression basin is in the north depression belt of the Cuoqun basin. There are three tectonic layer to be recognized. In Early Perman the Taricuo basin was a stable shelf basin. In Early Cretaceous the Taricuo basin was made up by tWo basins: a back-arc basin in the Bange area and an intra-arc basin in the Cuoqin-Shenzha area. Finally, regional tectonic evolution of the Cuoqin basin and related areas is roughly discussed.
