聚合草又名紫草根、肥羊草,为紫草科(Borraginaceae)聚合草属(Symphytum)多年生草本丛生型莲座状植物,是一种适应性广、产量高、富含蛋白质的青绿饲料,近年来在我国推广种植很快。据1980年初统计,全国种植面积已达40余万亩,在东北、华北、西南等地区成了猪的主要青饲料来源之一。据报导,聚合草含有多种吡咯双烷类生物硷(PAS)。如Furuya从药用聚合草(S.officinale)中分离出聚合草素(Symphytine)、聚合草醇硷(Echimidine);
