本文通过对国内外国际集装箱运输发展水平、目前我国水路国际集装箱运输存在的问题和2000年前后世界国际集装箱运输发展趋势的分析。根据我国经济、贸易发展的总目标、总政策及我国技术发展的客观条件、自身潜力和可能性,重点对我国水路国际集装箱枢纽港的建设、船队结构、国际集装箱运输的集疏运系统、国际集装箱运输管理与信息管理技术的发展进行全面阐述,并提出应采取的政策与措施,以加快我国水路国际集装箱运输的发展,尽早与国际惯例接轨。
