秘书学作为一门独立的新兴学科,近年来有了突飞猛进的发展,但是关于秘书定义问题却众说不一.仅笔者所见,曾为“秘书”下定义的有《辞海》(1979年版)、《现代汉语词典》、《秘书学概论》(张金安、常祟宜编)、《秘书学教程》(娄山关著)、《现代秘书工作》(常崇宜主编)、《秘书工作论》(陈贤华编)及张家仪的论文等,有七、八种.秘书,是秘书学的主要研究对象之一,倘若在定义这个问题上长期争执不下,势必难以进行更深层次的研究,从而影响秘书学的发展.显而易见,秘书定义亟需有统一的共识.
