华裔美国学者都文伟在他的《百老汇的中国题材与中国戏曲》一书中,谈到美国舞台认识中国戏曲的三个途径:“一是从英文文本中理性地了解中国戏曲,二是从中国剧团在美国的演出中感性地认识中国戏曲,三是通过他们自身在舞台上的实践来模仿中国戏曲的表现手法并创造性地运用于他们自己的戏剧中。”
In his book, “Broadway’s Chinese Themes and Chinese Opera,” Chinese-American scholar Du Wenwei talks about three ways for the American stage to recognize Chinese opera: “One is to understand Chinese opera rationally from the English text, and the other is Perceived Chinese operas from the Chinese theater troupes in the United States, and thirdly through their own on-stage practices to imitate the performance of Chinese operas and creatively apply them in their own plays. ”
