Manufacturers firmly establish the VPN concept and won widespread concern in the industry. It is now supporting security and management features based on its basic VPN products. When Internet Devices Inc. fleshed out its Fort Knox Policy router with virtual private network and bandwidth management capabilities, Bay Networks is adding L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) support to its products. In the meantime, Vina Technologies will target medium-sized businesses as market targets for its products with a T-1 access device that combines VPN, data and voice capabilities. Forrester Research analysts believe such improvements to an ever-growing number of VPN products will allow users to choose products that have the attributes they need.
