Adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) can be secondary to a variety of conditions including sepsis, but it is not yet possible to identify which patients will develop this serious complication. The authors continuously measured 6 markers in the blood in an attempt to study their value in predicting ARDS in patients with sepsis. Patients and Methods Seventy-six patients with sepsis were enrolled and blood was collected at the time of confirming diagnosis (oh) and at 6, 12, 24, 48 hours.
