这一期译文选的是《论美术的现状》两章的主要内容。前一部分是强调“恒久性”(persistance)和“回返”的概念,实即强调艺术超越“时间”、超越线型“历史”的永恒性问题。这是克莱尔对西方现代艺术自囿于“时间”的特征又一次展开攻击。 艺术不是“时间”或“历史”直线上的新旧对立(“传统”与“现代”对立)、以新汰旧的昙花一现。艺术不是熊瞎子掰棒子,抓一个丢一个。艺术不是克洛诺斯神,自生子女然后吞噬之。 “历史是艺术的恶梦”,令人叫绝的精辟!当艺术成了这样一种“走马灯”一晃而过的东西:一出现就失去存在理由,就注定被“历史”淘汰、被“时间”消灭,朝生而暮死,这不是艺术的恶梦是什么?
This issue of translation is the main content of two chapters on the status quo of art.
