1980年10月10日在阿尔及利亚的阿斯南发生了一次大地震。据我国家地震局地球物理研究所测定,发震时刻为标准时(GMT)10月10日12时25分,震级为 Ms 7.7,震中在北纬36.4°,东经1.3°。这次地震在阿尔及利亚灾区造成了人民生命和财产的严重损失。现根据1980年10月10日至11月8日的外电报道和英国《自然》1980年第287卷5783期的有关报道综合汇编如下:
A major earthquake struck Aswan in Algeria on October 10, 1980. According to the Institute of Geophysics, China Seismological Bureau, the earthquake occurrence time was GMT at 12:25 on October 10, and the magnitude was Ms 7.7.
